Today we gave Emily an early birthday present. When she got home from school she unwrapped a box that had a piece of paper inside. She took the paper out and saw a picture of a white puppy and instantly smiled and said a dramatic "thank you" as if it's what she'd always wanted. She was happy with just the picture. Dylan took the picture and read her the note that was written on it. It read, "Dear Emily, Happy birthday sweetie! You have been such a big girl and such a good helper that Dad and I wanted to give you an extra special present. This is a picture of your new white puppy. We have to go get in the car to go and get it. Then we can bring it home and buy it a leash, a bed, and a bone. We love you so much and hope you love your little puppy. Love, Mom and Dad." We then told her that we had to drive to McCall to pick up her dog. We hopped in the truck and off we went. Emily was so excited. Her only request for a dog was that it be a white one like Grandma Goldthorpe's. This was as close as we could get. We named him Louie and he sat on her lap pretty much the whole way home. We didn't have anything ready for him at home so we had to drive straight to WalMart to stock up. He is such a good boy. He lets the girls wheel him around in their stroller and he is so patient. He doesn't even cry. I wish he would so that Katelyn would realize when she is hurting him. I just hope he makes it.
