4th of July

So for the 4th of July weekend we had some visitors. Grandma and Grandpa Pond came up to visit us in good ol' Asotin one last time before we moved. We went up to see the house that we were in the process of buying and showed them around Coeur d'Alene. The morning of the 4th we woke up and went to the flag raising ceremony/breakfast that our ward puts on. The kids decorated their bikes in red, white, and blue and the primary puts on a little parade. It's more of a dangerous race from one end of the parking lot to the other, but the kids seem to enjoy it. We went and saw a movie and then that evening some friends came over for a bbq and fireworks. We had a great time chatting and lighting off our sorry excuse for fireworks when all of a sudden Katelyn tipped over in her chair and face planted the asphalt which isn't so much out of the ordinary except that this time it was right on top of a "snake" firework. It was not on fire luckily but still VERY hot. Her upper lip was just road rash but her head was burned. The black from the firework was chard on her forehead which was not a pretty sight. All of the black just sluffed off after about a day of ointment and keeping it covered. I was worried because I didn't know how bad it was right away. I thought it was worse because her whole face was black with ash and I could tell out in the dark exactly where the burn was. Katelyn was very brave and was really "all better" with a simple band aid. Whoever invented band aids is a life saver. Here is Katelyn (and Emily) a few days later showing off her band aids.
